More about Polarised Sunglasses

Glare off a wet road, a low winter sun, light bouncing off the sea. Polarised lenses filter out that reflected light, so you see more clearly and squint less. Every pair of polarised sunglasses here has UV400 protection too, blocking UVA and UVB rays, and every frame starts under £50.

Pick your shape: soft round frames or bold Wayfarer-style sunglasses. For the sharpest view we make, look for the Aura8™ lens upgrade on the product page.

Polarised Sunglasses FAQs

Still deciding? Free UK delivery, 30-day returns and UV400 on every pair. Ask us anything.

What do polarised sunglasses do?

Polarised lenses filter out the reflected light that bounces off flat surfaces like water, wet roads, snow and glass. That glare is what makes you squint, so polarised lenses make bright days far more comfortable.

Is polarised the same as UV400?

No. UV400 protection blocks UVA and UVB rays to protect your eyes. Polarisation cuts glare so you see more clearly. Every pair in this collection has both.

Are polarised sunglasses good for driving?

Yes, they cut glare from the road and windscreen. Some phone and dashboard screens can look darker through polarised lenses at certain angles, which is normal.

Do I need polarised sunglasses in winter?

They help a lot. The sun sits low in the sky from autumn to spring, and wet roads throw back strong glare, which is exactly what polarised lenses are designed to cut.

Are polarised sunglasses good for fishing and watersports?

Yes. Cutting the glare off the surface means you can see into the water more easily, which is why polarised lenses are a favourite for fishing, paddleboarding and days on the boat.

What is Aura8™?

Aura8™ is our best lens, offered as an upgrade on the product page. It adds next-level clarity and depth on top of polarised glare cutting and full UV protection.

More about Polarised Sunglasses

How polarised lenses work

When sunlight hits a flat surface such as a wet road, the sea or a car bonnet, it bounces back as horizontal glare. A polarised lens has a built-in filter that blocks that horizontal light while letting useful light through. The result is less squinting, better contrast and more comfortable eyes.

When polarised lenses make the biggest difference

Driving into low winter sun, days on the beach or by the pool, fishing and watersports, and bright days after rain. If you need to read LCD screens a lot, test them first, as some displays can look darker through polarised lenses at certain angles. Every pair here also has UV400 protection, which is a separate feature that blocks UVA and UVB rays.
